Los Angeles cops have not been able to figure out who is behind the celebrity swatting pranks where police are sent to a celebrity's house after receiving a fake 911 phone call. Miley Cryus is the latest victim to be swatted... again.
According to TMZ, cops received an emergency call Friday night from a female claiming to be calling from her closet and reporting shots were fired in the home.
Cyrus was not home at the time of the incident. This is the second time Cyrus has been swatted. The first time cops received a call about a possible home invasion but when they arrived at the former Disney star's house they realized nothing was wrong. The first time cops responded to the swatting call they sent a helicopter and officers surrounded her home with guns drawn.
Cyrus' house was swatted again just moments before Paris Hilton's house was swatted, also for a second time. TMZ also broke the story that police were sent to Hilton's house for a second time after receiving a phone call claiming that someone was holding Hilton hostage in her bedroom with a gun to her head. Again, once cops arrived to her house they realized everything was fine.
Hilton's house was swatted for the first time just two months ago.
Police have not been able to figure out who is behind the pranks or what the motives are.
Other celebrities have also been victims of swatting including Magic Johnson, Selena Gomaez, Paris Hilton, Ryan Seacrest, Russell Brand, Justin Timberlake, Khloe Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher, Chris Brown, Clint Eastwood and Kris Kardashian.
In response to the growing number of celebrity swatting hoaxes the California Senate approved an "anti-swatting" bill. Offenders would pay restitution including the full price of the police response, which could be $10,000 or more.
