Ron Burgundy and his posse are returning for a sequel to their original blockbuster "Anchorman," to be released in December.
A teaser to "Anchorman 2" was released by Paramount. While Director Adam McKay has Tweeted the film will be officially released December 20, he is still keeping the attention on San Diego's Channel 4 News Team by sending out hints to the movies' contents.
According to Rolling Stone, Harrison Ford and Kristen Wiig will be joining Will Farrell and Christine Applegate on the cast of the second film. Kanye West, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were also reportedly spotted filming cameos for the film in Atlanta.
"Jesus, MacArthur, Jay-Z: The great ones always return," the trailer's voice-overs call out as Ferrell appears with Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell and David Koechner.
The original "Anchorman" film, released in 2008, reportedly made $ $28.4 million in its opening weekend and $90.6 million worldwide over its total run. Ferrell has appeared in character to promote the sequel on such shows as "Conan." The tentative title for the sequel to "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," is "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."
The storyline chronicles the career and competitive nature of 1970s television journalists including Burguny, played by Ferrell, and his co-star girlfriend Veronica Corningtstone, played by Applegate. Vince Vaughn played the film's main antagonist as Wes Mantooth, head anchor at a competitor's television station. Rudd plays Brian Fantana, an arrogant field reporter who also adds to the egotistic nature of the group of battling journalists.
