If you stayed in a theater past the credits scene in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," you saw an interesting teaser for the next franchise film.
[Warning: this article contains spoilers]
Apocalypse is first shown building the ancient pyramids with his ability to levitate anything. However, MoviePilot.com pointed out the most interesting part of the clip in a recent feature about the scene.
"Most notable about the post credit scene were the four riders in the distance," according to MoviePilot. "Those are clearly the Horsemen of Apocalypse. Based on the Four Horsemen of the Bible (War, Pestilence, Famine, Death) this is a team of loyal, yet brainwashed mutants (usually) who serve Apocalypse. Comic adaptations tend to use lots of different storylines to create one cohesive movie."
"If the alternate timeline of Age of Apocalypse is not used then it is plausible that he will be found by an excavation team of some kind (in a King Tut kind of way) and awakened and goes on to wreak havoc," the site continued. "There have been MANY mutants who have been used as Horsemen. It would be very easy for the screenwriters to create a group of four mutants from what we've seen already without introducing anyone new."
It is unclear how the "X-Men" franchise will adapt Apocalypse's story on the big screen. In the comics, Apocalypse is the deadliest of all mutants with incredible superhuman traits such as heightened intelligence, the ability to manipulate his body to turn into many different weapons, telepathy and more. With the future being rewritten, the "X-Men" franchise can take the story anywhere.
Along with an additional credit scene, there were plenty of Easter Eggs found throughout "X-Men: Days of Future Past." From President John F. Kenndey being a mutant to Mystique's nod to the creator of KFC, check out the full list of Easter Eggs here courtesy of Hypable.com.
