Earlier in May, a student was arrested and charged in the shooting at Therrell High School in Atlanta.

Marcellus Brooks, 17, is facing five counts of aggravated assault after opening fire at five people.

The shooting took place around 4 p.m. and occurred 100 yards away from the school building. Officials with Atlanta Public Schools confirmed each victim was a student at the high school and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the shooting, the school was placed on lockdown. Additionally, administrators announced that backpacks and bags would be prohibited for the rest of the school year.

The chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners called the shootings "particularly upsetting and distressing."

"When our young people are victimized by the crime of our city streets, it serves as a sad reminder of the challenges we as leaders confront in trying to make our streets safer for Fulton County families," Chairman John Eaves said in a statement.
