Many burger joints are offering deals in honor of National Hamburger Day.

According to Houston, Texas radio station News92fm, Fuddruckers customers can enjoy a burger, fries and drink meal for $7 when they print out a coupon and present it to a restaurant employee.

Customers with the last name burger will receive the free meat sandwich from Smashburger. According to The Christian Post, the company also gives the best craft beer pairing tips.

Evos Feel Good Food, an alternative fast food option, offered a special buy-one-get-one-free burger deal. This beef has no extra hormones and antibiotics. A fresh fruit milkshake with organic milk also only costs one cent.

Evos' co-founder told QSR Magazine the company closely monitors their beef selection.

"We use only source-verified beef," Dino Lambridis said. "That means the animals are tracked from day one and the farms never bring in additional animals from other feed lots. We believe if you are going to have ground beef, this is the kind of beef you should have."

White Castle offered two free sliders to everyone who visited the company's food truck from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in New York City's Herald Square.

McDonald's gave away free cheeseburgers to recognize National Cheeseburger Day on Sept. 18, 2012 according to News92.

"No better place to be on National Cheeseburger Day than McD's...that's why we are surprising tweeps w/ Cheeseburgers all day!" the company said in a post at the time.

According to The Christian Post, consumers can generally use ground turkey, salmon, and vegetables in place of the usual ground beef. Burgers also come with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, pickles and other fixings. Although the popular food item's history is highly debated, one fact is known for sure: the hamburger is named after Hamburg, Germany.
