Beats Launches Redesigned Solo2 Headphones; Pre-Orders Available In The US

Beats has launched a revamped version of its original Solo headphones, complete with new design, improved audio performance and lighter weight, just a day after its buyout.

Beats is still not off the headlines and its already making a new one. The renowned music technology company led by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine unveiled a new pair of headphones, the Solo2, replacing the company's best-selling Beats Solo. The new headphones pack a new design, premium materials and enhanced audio performance.

With Beats Solo2 headphones, the music company hopes to continue the legacy carried by the original Solo headphones, which were launched in 2008 and topped the best-selling list since. According to Beats, four Solos were sold each minute last year and it is yet to be seen whether the new Solos will continue the demand.

Designwise, the new Solo 2 headphones are slightly tweaked to make them more flexible and curved for a comfortable fit. The earcups are redesigned to better control sound leakage and heat and the streamlined aesthetic look with no visible screws add to the company's signature look and feel. The redesign has not fiddled with the quality of the sound Beats delivers in its headphones. The Solo2 features enhanced audio performance to catch every detail of a song, regardless of the genres.

"When you think about Beats you think about iconic design, incredible sound, premium quality, profound comfort and of course, portability; we've worked hard to earn this reputation and along with that comes very high expectations," Beats President Luke Wood, said in a statement, Thursday. "Solo² delivers on all fronts while finding new frontiers in audio performance to bring the emotion back to music."

The new Beats Solo2 headphones are available for pre-order from the company's official website for $199.95 and will be available in stores and online starting June 1. Customers can choose from six available colors including black, white, red, blue, gray and pink. The headphones carry a matching RemoteTalk cable to carry out functions like change tracks, adjust volume and take calls.
