A teenager in Virginia pleaded guilty on Wednesday to brutally murdering his parents right before Christmas of last year after they confiscated his iPod and other items, CNN reported.
Though Vincent Tyrell Parker, 16, was arrested after his mother, Carol T. Parker, and father, Wayne Earl Parker, were found dead, authorities did not release the identify of the suspect because of his age.
Now, court records show the teen is being charged as an adult in Norfolk Circuit Court.
On Dec. 19, Parker armed himself with eight kitchen knives, an aluminum bat, and a crow bar before going upstairs to find his mother. According to authorities, he stabbed her in the face and neck several times and beat her head so harshly that the medical examiner identified 25 different wounds. She died on the floor in her bedroom, officials said.
The teen then went downstairs and waited until his father arrived home, who he then attacked with a crowbar and stabbed in the chest and back. After running fleeing the home, the father was able to call 911 and tell police his son attacked him and killed his mother. However, he was pronounced dead later that night.
Parker, an honor roll student with no history of mental illness, has baffled investigators as to what could have triggered such gruesome killings.
"I just remember getting mad," Parker reportedly told investigators. "It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff."
Parker's grandfather said his grandson is a "smart young man. He is smart in school. I don't know what happened," according to CNN.
Additionally, his friends told authorities that Parker recently told them he was gay. Some friends said he came out to his parents and some claim he hadn't, CNN said.
Parker is being held in Norfolk Detention Center.
