After being fired from ABC's Scandal and dealing with a string of legal problems, actor Columbus Short seems to be getting back in the saddle.
The 31-year-old actor is reportedly restarting his career as a stand-up comedian, according to TMZ. Short has reportedly been developing a comedy routine and hitting the stand-up club circuit. The actor was reportedly spotted performing at various venues.
"Started from the bottom and now we here. Back at the bottom," Short said jokingly to TMZ reporters following his alleged performance at the comedy club Flappers in Burbank.
However, when asked how he received word that he was terminated from the show the actor said he was sent a snapshot of a conversation between co-workers. The actor become uncomfortable when asked whether or not he was fired from the ABC drama Scandal and if his co-stars support him.
Short's latest gimmick is reportedly an attempt to rebuild a career in entertainment. Short is also getting back into the music world and is reportedly working with R&B producer Knotch on an upcoming album.
His career took a negative turn after he got involved in several legal cases, including receiving a restraining order from his estranged wife Tanee McCall-Short. Short's wife said her husband "violated the restraining order against him six times." McCall-Short's restraining order against her husband of nearly nine years expires on July 30th.
McCall reportedly fears for the safety of their two-year-old daughter after Short threatened to kill her and himself. In April, she filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and is seeking sole custody of their daughter.
