"The Arsenio Hall Show" has been given the boot.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Arsenio Hall's late night talk show was been cancelled after one season. CBS canceled the syndicated show less than three months before the series celebrated its one-year anniversary.
"Unfortunately, The Arsenio Hall Show will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue," CBS Television Distribution said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we'd like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We'd also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show."
The show, which debuted last September, was renewed for a second season in February. However the show was reportedly "downgraded to different timeslots in some markets." The show aired on PIX11 weeknights at 11:30 p.m.
The Arsenio Hall Show debuted with a solid 1.5 rating, but dropped 60 percent within the first several months. The last original episode aired May 21.
"When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge - I'm gratified for the year we've had and proud of the show we created," the actor and comedian said. "I'd like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night."
The show marked Hall's second time as the host of a syndicated talk show. He hosted a talk show of the same-titled from 1989 until 1994.
