Paul Walker's brother Cody Walker could be spending more time in front of the camera.
According to the Daily Mail, Cody has reportedly secured a recurring role in the hit franchise to fill the shoes of his late brother and help finish production on "Fast & Furious 7." The 25-year-old actor has reportedly been impressed with Cody's acting skills since coming aboard the project.
"Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew," a source told Daily Mail. "Of course, Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way, but the producers were really grateful that he stepped in to help them finish this last film and Cody is so likeable and charming. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies."
Paul, who died last November in a fiery car crash, had completed a number of his scenes before his death. Earlier this year, Universal Pictures announced that Caleb Walker and Cody had been enlisted to help finish "small gaps left in production" after their brother's death.
In a statement on the movie's Facebook page, Universal pictures stated that "This film is the most important we've ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O'Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role."
The statement added: "The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for Fast and Furious 7, and it's among the strongest work of his career. We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul's brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family."
In May, Cody was photographed on set with his on-screen wife, Jordanna Brewster, in Malibu, Calif. After Paul's death, the production for the action movies was halted to give cast and crew time to grieve and make plans to move forward with the seventh installment of the franchise.
Screenwriter Chris Morgan began rewriting the script in December.
"Fast & Furious 7" is set to be released on April 10, 2015.
