Charlie Hunnam is still heartbroken over losing his role in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
The 34-year-old "Sons of Anarchy" star told Life & Style Magazine at the Hauding Film Awards in Hollywood Sunday that he regrets dropping the role of Christian Grey. Hunnam stepped down due to scheduling conflicts with his FX series.
"I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a good job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it on in the first place," Hunnam said. "When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it's heartbreaking not to be able to play him."
He added: "It was definitely kind of heartbreaking having to say goodbye to that character and not bring it to life."
Hunnam was replaced by actor and model Jamie Dornan, who will star opposite Dakota Jackson playing Anastasia Steele. At the time Hunnam told E! New that he was struggling with family issues and added that he was "just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive."
