Microsoft's Xbox Game Console Receives 45 New Media Apps

Microsoft is installing 45 new media apps on the company's Xbox game console.

According to Tech Crunch, the updates include Vine, HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, Comedy Central and Major League Gaming. The additions are meant to keep users more involved with the platform whether or not they are playing video games. Microsoft employees will also make the interactive entertainment systems the central point for people watching streaming video.

The software giant's announcement comes six days before The Electronic Entertainment Expo June 10-12 in Los Angeles. Calif.

Microsoft consumers can expect a lot from the company in June.

"The month of June will usher in exciting changes for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners," the company said in a statement on their website." The Xbox team has been hard at work on delivering the new capabilities we recently announced for fans, including highly anticipated Xbox One features like external storage, the ability to use your real name on Xbox Live, and improved SmartGlass integration. Both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates will begin rolling out globally this week, giving fans more ways than ever to enjoy the best in gaming and entertainment with Xbox."

Gamers can watch television using their machine by connecting the product to their satellite equipment. This enables consumers to flip between shows and video game action.

Microsoft added Twitch live stream capabilities upon the launch of combat game Titanfall, according to Polygon. The company reportedly has more in store for the fall, including expansion of its next generation Microsoft Xbox One to 26 more countries come September, according to the company's website.

Consumers in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Russia will soon be able to purchase the product. Sweden, Switzerland, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia are also included.

Gamers in the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Japan, and South Korea can also expect the device.
