LinkedIn announced Wednesday that it has released a new design for premium subscribers' profile pages.
The new layout includes a bigger profile picture, a gallery of prefabricated background images, and the option to create a custom background, according to PCWorld.
The changes were made to give users more opportunities to make their profile pages stand out from others.
The redesign is similar to that of Facebook and Twitter's profile pages styles, UPI reported.
Twitter also made recent changes to its design, which was first released in April. The rollout for the redesign was only completed recently.
The updates to LinkedIn's profile pages are currently only offered to premium users, who will be able to immediately add cover photos to their pages. The feature will be available in a few months to unpaid users, who must apply to a wait list to gain access to the custom backgrounds, PCWorld reported.
Premium users now have profile listings that appear twice as big as those of upaid users in LinkedIn search results. When setting up profiles, subscribers will receive personalized, search-friendly keyword suggestions. Subscribers can also leave their profiles open so other LinkedLin members can find them easily, and have the option of seeing a full 90-day list of "Who's Viewed Your Profile."
The "open" option used to be an opt-in feature, but is a now a standard one for premium users, UPI reported.
The social networking service also announced Premium Spotlight, a new service that aims to increase its number of paid users.
Dmitry Shevelenko, product manager for LinkedIn, said Premium Spotlight includes all of the new features and is "designed for ambitious professionals who are looking to take their career to the next level," PCWorld reported
LinkedIn's Business and Business Plus Packages for premium users currently cost $23.99 and $47.99 per month, respectively, and the Premium Spotlight service is available for $7.99 per month.
