Pebble released a firmware update to its version 2.2 smartwatch Thursday to make it easier for users to customize their devices.
The update adds volume controls and the ability to organize the app menu, according to Digital Trends.
Consumers who sync their Pebbles with iPhones will have to download the new app before getting the update. iBeacon support and low-energy Bluetooth connections have also been added to the app.
In order to re-order items in the Launcher Menu, users only have to press and hold the select button while in the Launcher, then move items up and down once the menu starts shaking, PC Magazine reported.
Volume control for Pebble was first demonstrated last year, but the recent update is the first time that the feature is being added to the firmwire.
Other features were added to the app with the firmwire update, such as a redesigned Music app. The app fixes problems with the layout and upgrades iOS with a track progress bar. The alarm, which used to only vibrate for one minute, is now able to vibrate for 10 minutes. Bug fixes and stability improvements were also made to the device, PC Magazine reported.
Recent data from Canalys, a market research firm, claims that Pebble is beating Sony, Samsung, and other competitors in the smartwatch/smart band market. The startup was able to jump ahead of competitors with a 35 percent share of all smart wearables that were shipped in the first quarter.
The firmware 2.2 update is already available to some users, according to Digital Trends.
However, it may take time before all Pebble users receive the update.
Pebble users can download the update from the Pebble smartphone app.
Pebble also recently released its new Pebble Steel smartwatch, as well as a new app store.
