Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy reached a child custody settlement Thursday concerning parental responsibilities over their four-year-old daughter Bryne.
People Magazine reported that the former reality TV couple, who split in December 2012 and filed for divorce a month later, has agreed to share custody of their daughter. Hoppy's lawyer, Bernard Clair, said the terms of the settlement are confidential, but his client is thrilled with the outcome.
"My client is delighted that this custody dispute has been resolved; that his co-parenting status has been acknowledged; that the parties' child will have the benefit of being raised by both parents; and most importantly, that his daughter will no longer be at the mercy of a high profile courtroom battle," Clair told People.
He added: "Jason wishes Bethenny only the best of luck, and he looks forward to sharing with her all of the joyous occasions, milestones and blessings that will be coming up in his daughter's future."
A source told People that Frankel, 43, is glad to put the drama behind her and added that "she never wanted to take it this far and never wanted this to be dragged out in court."
According to ABC News, the settlement comes just days after a nasty custody battle between the former lovers. During her testimony Frankel described hers and Hoppy's shared living situation as "brutal, horrendous, excruciating," and added that Hoppy would not leave her alone in the apartment with their daughter.
The former talk-show host was in tears as she testified in a Manhattan Supreme Court case against Hoppy last week. She claimed that her soon-to-be ex-husband called her "garbage" and threatened to "destroy" her when he found out she wanted a divorce.
"He said, 'I'm going to destroy you - I'm going to have you and your publicist crying and crumbling in a corner,'" Frankel said last month in court. "He said, 'You don't know what it's like to have a family, you'll never have a family.'"
She also claimed that Hoppy hacked into her email and had her spied on while spending time with their daughter. The former "Real Housewives of New York" star confessed to throwing water on Hoppy in anger as he slept and calling him "white trash."
Both sides argued over who would be the better parent to their daughter.
