Microsoft Sells $399 Xbox One Without Kinect Sensor, Says Device Can Remain Plugged In

Microsoft's Xbox One can indeed operate faster without the game console's kinect sensor.

According to Forbes, the device can remain plugged into the interactive entertainment, even when consumers don't use it. A software development kit will give engineers the necessary power resources to disable and restart the technology.

Xbox One enthusiasts tweeted Microsoft Xbox One's head, Phil Spencer, their concerns.

"@microsoft and @XboxP3 can you please clarify to the media outlets about the dev tools and xbox one. Your message is being relayed wrongly," Twitter user Game On posted.

Spencer replied that the game console's June update was not associated with the kinect's assembly.

"@Cee_JCH @Microsoft I've seen places write June SDK update is related to Kinect being plugged in, it isn't. Devs decide reserve per game," Spencer tweeted

@XboxP3 @Cee_JCH @Microsoft So. If devs use the extra power for games xbix1 can run the game at too performance with or without kinect...??

"Yes. Keep it plugged in, no need to unplug, you'll still want Kinect for all the things it's great at," Spencer responded.

Microsoft was previously hesitant to separate the two components until announcing the plans on May 13.

The Kinect sensor enables Xbox One and Xbox 360 players to operate the device simply by talking. Users can also connect the console to their satellite television equipment in order to watch TV, flip back and forth between gaming, or view shows.

The Kinect Sensor-less Microsoft Xbox One hits the market for $399 Monday, according to Reuters. The change will allow the software giant to compete with Sony's PlayStation 4 sales.

"Value is important," Spencer told The San Francisco Chronicle. "Making sure you have an opening price point that can reach as many people as possible is critical."

Microsoft sold 3.9 million Xbox One units over the holidays.
