Nintendo Europe will soon close its Grobostheim, Germany headquarters, the game maker announced Friday.
According to Eurogamer, 130 employees will also lose their jobs as the game maker joins their main base with their Frankfurt, Germany office. The group will also outsource and re-organize some tasks.
Nintendo said the changes affect all of the game makers' divisions.
"The measures include the consolidation of the current European headquarters in Großostheim (Germany) to Frankfurt (Germany), the closure of the warehouse and office in Großostheim, as well as outsourcing and reorganizing some functions," the corporation said in a statement, adding that the layoffs were difficult to make. "These intended measures have not been made lightly and have only been arrived at after thorough analysis and careful consideration."
The interactive entertainment business stated it will help out employees who will be laid off.
"Nintendo of Europe is committed to a fair consultation process with the local Works Council in Germany with the objective of providing clarity and support for all affected employees as soon as possible," the company said in the statement.
Nintendo predicts the move will help the company grow for the future.
"Nintendo of Europe has entered into a consultation process on a number of changes it is intending to make to its European business which, in the long term, will better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment," the company said in a statement.
On a brighter note, consumers can expect an announcement from the company at Tuesday's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The company will outline plans for the rest of 2014 according to Eurogamer. These include information about Smash Bro., NFC toys and the Wii U Zelda.
According to Tech Crunch, the event kicks off at 9 a.m. in the U.S., or 5 p.m. in the United Kingdom.
