The Daytime Emmy Awards are going from the TV screen to the computer screen.
According to Deadline, the 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards will not air on TV this year, but instead will available online. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Thursday that the 41st annual ceremony will be live streamed on DaytimeEmmys.com.
The news comes two weeks before the award ceremony was scheduled to air. The Daytime Emmy Awards, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, have been broadcast on major networks for 38 years. In 2012 is shifted to cable news channel HLN. In 2013, around 913,000 viewers tuned in for the show.
"We are confident that the expert team we've brought on will flawlessly execute an evening that celebrates the outstanding talent being honored and allows fans to be a part of the action," Malachy Wienges, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chairman, said in a statement.
The Daytime Emmys honors soap operas, talk shows, cooking programs, along with news, game shows and home improvement shows. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences debuted two new categories this year - Outstanding Entertainment News and Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series.
The nominees for the 2014 Emmys were announced in May. According to The Hollywood Reporter, daytime soap "The Young and the Restless" scored 28 nominations, followed by "The Bold and the Beautiful" with 18, and "General Hospital" with 16.
The "Ellen Degeneres Show" received nine nominations including one for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show. "The Chew," "Good Morning America," "The Queen Latifah Show," "Steve Harvey," "Today" and "Wheel of Fortune" all received two nominations.
The 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will stream live on DaytimeEmmys.net on June 22 at 5 p.m. PT
