Microsoft E3 2014: Software Giant Could Unveil New Video Games (LIVE STREAM)

Microsoft will introduce new video games for the holiday season during an Electronic Entertainment Expo press Conference Monday.

According to USA Today, the software giant will also promote its kinect sensor-less Xbox One game console when kicking off the two-day Los Angeles tech event.

Xbox's vice president for strategy and marketing told Reuters that the $399 kinect sensor option could be a big draw.

"That's going to appeal to our fans on Xbox 360 who have been excited to try Xbox One but, because of affordability options, haven't had the opportunity," Yusuf Mehdi said. "So we think that's going to grow the market."

The Kinect sensor enables Xbox 360 and Xbox One players to operate the device simply by talking. Users can also connect the console to their satellite television equipment in order to watch TV, flip back and forth between gaming, or view shows. The game console reportedly hits the market Monday. The change will allow Microsoft to compete with Sony's PlayStation 4.

According to the expo's website, new game releases include Far Cry 4 on Nov. 18. This will be compatible with Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 game console. Microsoft's Xbox One, Xbox 360, and personal computer will also work.

Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor is expected to drop on Oct. 7, 2014. PlayStation 3, and 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One game consoles are acceptable machines.

An analyst at Digital World Research told USA Today that Microsoft's quick action to boost company sales were out of the ordinary.

"It's unusual that Microsoft responded that quickly," P.J. McNealy said.

The E3 conference takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center Tuesday. Many tech companies will also hold press conferences. Video game developer Ubisoft announces its plans at 5:30 p.m. eastern standard time, 2:30 p.m. pacific standard time. Sony reveals the tech giant's ideas at 8:30 p.m eastern standard time, or 5:30 p.m. pacific standard time.
