Electronic Art's "Battlefield Hardline" video game will give consumers a first-hand look at a law enforcement officials' lives when released in the United States Oct. 21, 2014.
According to a press release, the Interactive Entertainment is compatible with Sony's PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, and Microsoft Xbox One game console. These also include the tech giant's all-in-one games and entertainment system. The digital media comes out in Europe Oct. 23, then will hitthe United Kingdom Oct. 24.
Visceral Game's vice president and general manager said the announcement is perfect for Electronic Arts to expand.
"This is an awesome opportunity to take one of gaming's most exciting franchises in a new direction," Steve Papoutsis said in a statement."The cops and criminals fantasy is a great new backdrop for Battlefield and allows us to introduce an impactful story, while still maintaining that intense multiplayer action that fans expect. Best of all, the beta allows lots of fans to jump in and play immediately."
The vice president and group general manager of EA's Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment division, DICE, and Visceral said the companies always strive to innovate themselves.
"We're always looking for new, exciting directions to take the Battlefield franchise, but it has to be a great experience that's driven by passion and stays true to the heritage of Battlefield," Karl Magnus Troedsson said in a statement. "Visceral has a great track record of creating emotionally charged stories with unforgettable atmosphere and we're excited to see them bring this approach to single player and to see how they add to Battlefield's best in class multiplayer action. Hardline is fun, fresh and yet still very much a Battlefield game."
Many other tech companies also held press conferences Monday. Microsoft approached the microphone first. New video games for the holiday season were announced. The company also promoted its $399 kinect sensor-less Microsoft One game console.
