The New York Rangers are down two games heading into Tuesday night's match against the Boston Bruins. If the Rangers hope to rebound, they'll need to start with a win in Game 3 on their home ice, according to the Associated Press.
Game 3 starts at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. You can watch it HERE.
It's not an unfamiliar situation for the Rangers. New York dug themselves a 0-2 hole against the Washington Capitals, but managed to advance from the Eastern Conference quarterfinals with a Game 7 win.
New York, coming off a 5-2 loss on Sunday, is focused on winning at Madison Square Garden. Despite the score, Rangers coach John Tortorella saw positives in Game 2.
"After watching the tape, which always helps me the next day one way or another, there were a lot of good things," Tortorella told AP reporters on Monday.
Games 3 and 4, both at home, give the Rangers a chance to get back into the series. Boston knows this and will look to ding New York's morale with third-straight victory.
"We know we can't take them lightly," Bruins forward Brad Marchand said. "We've got to make sure we go to New York being hungry and ready to go out hard."
Boston isn't willing to let the momentum of the series shift with a Rangers home win. Bruins star Patrice Bergeron, who recorded two assists on Sunday, echoed his teammate's sentiments.
"It's about realizing the series is not over until you win that fourth game. We know that," Bergeron said. "We know (Tuesday) is going to be a huge game. They're going to try to bounce back, and we're expecting them to come out really hard. We need to make sure we match that."
