Actor Jeremy Renner is strapping back on the gun to revisit his role in "Mission: Impossible 5".
According to Yahoo News, Renner confirmed that he will rejoin Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg in the fifth installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. The 43-year-old actor previously played William Brandt in "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol".
In an interview with Yahoo, Renner was asked if he would be interested in starring in Season 2 of HBO's "True Detective".
He replied, "It's kind of unlikely. In fact, I'm kind of strapped time-wise doing Avengers 2, and Mission: Impossible 5 is rearing its head, and then they want to do another Bourne movie. It's unlikely I can find the time right now. And that's all right. It's just really high-class problems - pretty awesome to have. Even if I really wanted to do it, which I don't, I couldn't."
The actor's comment is the first to be made about his appearance in the upcoming film, according to Yahoo News. Renner is currently filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and will star in "Kill The Messenger," due out this fall.
TheWrap reported that Renner joined the "Mission: Impossible" franchise for the sole purpose of possibly taking over the lead position from Cruise. The only cast member from the "Ghost Protocol" team that has not verified their return is Paula Patton.
The film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, based on a screenplay by Drew Pearce and produced by Skydance Productions.
"Mission: Impossible 5" is reportedly expected to hit theaters December 25, 2015.
