Burger King's extra long BBQ Cheeseburger hit the fast food giant's menu June 2.
According to a press release, the sandwich has two beef burger patties placed next to each other on a toasted hoagie bun. Onion rings and BBQ sauce make up the meat creation's top layer.
The item is listed on the fast food giant's two for five dollar menu. The sandwich costs $3.59 at participating Burger King restaurants throughout the United States.
Burger King's Chief Marketing Officer said the new product resembles the atmosphere in company restaurants.
"The new savory Extra Long BBQ Cheeseburger is the perfect example of how you can order and eat your way at our restaurants," Eric Hirschhorn said in a statement. "Instead of stacking the patties, we've placed them side by side and topped them with two summer favorites, crispy onion rings and sweet BBQ sauce, for a sandwich that is a fun twist on a classic burger."
Burger King's new offering caters to customers who want to mix and match meat products. These include the big king, the chicken big king sandwich, original chicken sandwich, and big fish sandwich. According to brandeating.com consumers can buy any two burger or sandwich combinations. Other offerings include the famous whopper, premium alaskan fish, original chicken, and pulled pork sandwiches.
The moves are part of the company's effort to boost sales, and compete with rival McDonald's.
