The second installment of the Ubisoft "Watch Dogs" may already be in-development.
Tony Key, Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing, spoke to GameSpot about the future of the "Watch Dogs" franchise.
"Creating a new franchise like that is the hardest thing to do in our industry because there's so much risk involved," Key said. "We're incredibly happy with the sales of the game and the experiences that the people are having. So it's a franchise. It goes into the franchise barn and now we figure out what to do next. It's something that we can build on now."
The game reportedly sold four million copies its first week on store shelves. According to GameSpot, Ubisoft has a movie deal in place for their "Watch Dogs" franchise.
However, Key didn't couldn't confirm there is a second installment in the works, but claims if there is a sequel, it'll be something fresh for gamers.
"Any team that's going to make a sequel is going to have to come up with something innovative and entertaining," Key told GameSpot. "Otherwise, the brand doesn't grow. That'll be the challenge for the guys, if and when they start talking about making another game."
Though "Watch Dogs" launch was a success for Ubisoft, the company's biggest hit maker is under fire. Ubisoft Creative Director Alex Amancio recently told Polygon making a female Assassins for the upcoming "Assassin's Creed: Unity" co-op mode.
Amancio claimed the animations necessary to make the female Assassins would take too much time to create. However, a former Ubisoft employee disputed his claims, estimating it would take two days work to get right.
Ubisoft has since released a statement regarding Amancio's comments. You can read more about the controversy here. "Assassin's Creed: Unity" will be released to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Oct. 28.
