The incident surrounding Sandra Bullock's home invasion keeps getting weirder and weirder. A 39-year-old man was arrested after breaking into Bullock's Los Angeles home on Saturday, June 7.
Joshua Corbett was charged with felony burglary, stalking and possession of an machine gun. Prosecutors told TMZ that Corbett did not have the illegal machine gun on him when he was arrested but police found it later.
Law enforcement officials told the site that they do not believe the man entered "into the house to burglarize it... he was there for Sandra." Reportedly Corbett did not want to hurt the "Gravity" actress but wanted to have a "face-to-face" with her.
During the burglary, Bullock reportedly locked herself in a room until police arrived. According to TMZ, her young son was not home at the time. Allegedly Corbett scaled a chain-link barbed wire fence in order to get on the actress' property. Police said he entered the house through the back door but it's not clear if the door was left unlocked or not.
Immediately after the break-in, Bullock got an emergency protective order against Corbett. According to People magazine, Los Angeles police spokeswoman said Nuria Vanegas said the incident was classified as a "hot prowl burglary," or a burglary that takes place when the owner is home.
Vanegas also said that it's believed Corbett was obsessed with Bullock and might have kept a diary about her. According to CNN, he was allegedly inside the Los Angeles home for more than an hour before police were called.
When cops arrived Corbett was no longer in the house but was found on the property. The 49-year-old first purchased the seven bedroom, eight bathroom home in 2011 for $16.2 million. The mansion includes a pool, separate guesthouse, gym, tennis court and a private screening room.
