Soccer star Ronaldinho is renting out his Rio de Janeiro home to anyone visiting Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
If you're an ardent football fan and don't mind shelling out a few extra thousand dollars per night to enjoy the 2014 FIFA World Cup like a soccer star, this news may get you excited. To give fans a true feel of football, soccer star Ronaldinho is renting out his Rio de Janeiro home for the upcoming tournament.
The property is listed on Airbnb for an asking price of $15,000 per night. Facilities on the property include a sauna, swimming pool with jacuzzi, barbecue area, home theater, gourmet kitchen, wine cellar, a special fridge for beer, fireplace, office, zen room for massages or yoga, parking for up to 3 cars and an exclusive stage to enjoy a good samba party with friends, according to the listing.
The former Barcelona forward confirmed that he won't be in town during the tournament. Knowing that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is bound to attract many celebrities to Brazil, it doesn't hurt that his house can fetch him a quick buck. He also posted the Airbnb ad on Twitter to confirm that it was real.
"This is for those people who don't believe I am renting my house," Ronaldinho tweeted.
Renowned for his technique, tricks, dribbling, overhead kicks, no-look passes and free kicks, Ronaldinho is widely regarded to be one of the best footballers of his generation. He won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. He was an integral part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup winning team, starring alongside Ronaldo and Rivaldo in an attacking trio, and was named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team. He has played 97 matches and scored 33 goals for the Brazil national football team.
The footballer's goalless innings at the 2003 Confederations Cup was a major reason why he was dropped from Brazil's squad for various international games. Though Ronaldinho started in all five of Brazil's 2006 World Cup finals matches, the country's elimination from the tournament garnered a lot of criticism for the Brazilin player. He has not featured in any World Cup tournament since.
