"Star Wars Episode 7" may have a new addition to their cast as production reportedly wraps up in Abu Dhabi.
According to IGN, an insider source claims actor Simon Pegg has landed a role in the film. Pegg has worked with director J.J. Abrams before, with film credits in the "Star Trek" series and "Mission Impossible 3." Though Pegg has denied involvement in the production, the actor was allegedly spotted on the Abu Dhabi set.
"I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting," Pegg told IGN in a previous interview.
Though Pegg's casting hasn't been confirmed by the production, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie have official joined the cast. Christie is best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones." Nyong'o is an Oscar winning actress who starred in "12 Years a Slave."
"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."
Nyong'o and Christie join "Star Wars" newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. The production will also reunite original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker on the big screen once again.
The production has confirmed character names for the actors just yet, but there have been many leaked photos about the production to surface online. TMZ has posted the most the spoiler filled photos, but a production member has released a photo of the R2D2 on set. Check it out below.
The next "Star Wars" installment will open worldwide on Dec. 18, 2015.
