U.S. Thrill Rides and engineering firm S&S Worldwide stated they are currently building the world's tallest roller coaster in Orlando, Fla.
The 570-foot high ride is called the Skyscraper, and will wrap around a central tower that has a glass observation deck, according to Discovery News.
Glass elevators will lift riders in the air. After ascending, the riders will spiral down around the tower and out into the Skyplex amusement park. The park is a new 12-acre indoor entertainment area located on Orlando's International Drive.
The $200 million rollercoaster can move at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour (mph), The Daily Mail reported.
"Not only will the 'Skyscraper' coaster be the world's tallest, we believe it will be the most thrilling," said Bill Kitchen, Founder of U.S. Thrill Rides and creator of the Polercoaster. "There will be incredible heart-pounding inside and outside loops, dives, spirals and inversions like the world has never seen."
The Skyscraper will be built close to the Orlando Eye, a 435-foot ferris wheel that is also being constructed. Once finished, the tower will be the tallest structure in central Florida, Discovery News reported.
Like other "Polercoaster" thrill rides, the Skyscraper is designed to be built around a central tower with a small footprint. Two other Polercoasters are being planned as well, with one set to be built in Georgia and the other in Las Vegas.
Joshua Wallack, COO of Mango's Tropical Café, a new food and entertainment complex on International Drive, shared his excitement for the new ride. Mango's Tropical Café is scheduled to open next year, The Daily Mail reported.
"We're extremely excited about creating a record-breaking, must-try attraction on International Drive," Wallack said.
"Nowhere in the world will you have two iconic structures like The Skyscraper and the Orlando Eye. This will be an incredible opportunity for International Drive."
The Skyscraper is scheduled to be finished by 2016.
The Kingda Ka coaster, which is 456 feet tall, currently holds the record for tallest roller coaster, Discovery News reported. The Skyscraper will be taller by over 100 feet once completed.
The Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is currently the fastest coaster in the world, able to reach speeds up to 149 mph.
