Jessica Simpson is ready to get married - but not without a bachelorette party first.
People Magazine reported that Simpson and Eric Johnson hosted a co-ed bachelor and bachelorette bash Monday on the rooftop of Eveleigh restaurant in Los Angeles. In attendance were the couple's friends and family, including Johnson's former NFL teammates and his dad.
The bash did not include any X-rated entertainment, such as strippers or lewd party favors. A source told People that Simpson was more interested in "a great night out with their friends and family" than indulging in any "naughtiness."
"They didn't want a traditional bachelor-bachelorette where they go off and do their own thing, because our group of friends is so close we just wanted to all be together," Simpson's childhood friend and bridesmaid Stephanie Terblanche said. "This is what we would do anyway. We would all go out, and I think that this speaks for the group. If we are not going to be at someone's house hanging out playing beer pong, this is the closest thing to it."
The night started with a speech by Simpson's mother, Tina, about her daughter and son-in-law-to-be, and was followed by a toast for the couple. Guest were severed appetizers, including Brussels sprouts, fried artichokes and truffle fries. Salad kept guests satisfied until the dinner - a family-style meal of chicken, meatballs, steak and veggies - was served.
The fashion designer wore a sexy black dress with a plunging neckline, and was seen laughing and dancing with Johnson. The eyewitness added that the alcohol was flowing and "there was a lot of vodka... champagne."
"Everyone had so much fun celebrating Jessica and Eric," a source shared with People. "Dinner was great, there were a bunch of touching toasts and then everyone went dancing!"
Simpson and the former NFL star have been engaged since November 2010 and are expected to tie the knot during the Fourth of July weekend. They have two children together, Maxwell, 2, and Ace, 10 months.
