The New York Rangers play the Los Angeles Kings on Friday in Game 5 of the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup finals. The game starts at 8:00 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream or listen to the radio broadcast via the links provided below.
New York staved off elimination on Wednesday and forced a fifth game after defeating Los Angeles, 2-1. Rangers wingers Benoit Pouliot and Martin St. Louis each scored once, goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves and New York's defense prevented a comeback by keeping the Kings scoreless in the third period.
"When everything is on the line, you just have to challenge yourself the right way," Lundqvist told the Associated Press. "You have to be focused. One mistake and the season is over. You're definitely aware of that."
Although the Rangers must win every game here on to claim the Stanley Cup, they feel a victory on Friday would put the pressure on Los Angeles.
"I know if we win (Game 5), they're definitely going to feel the pressure," Lundqvist said. "We were in that spot playing Montreal. The closer you are to your final goal, obviously you tend to think more. That's just the way you work. It's hard not to. ...
"It comes down to how much you want to battle, how much you want it. Not only for me, but for the group. ... Sometimes when everything is on the line, that's actually easier sometimes to focus in on the important thing and not so much on consequences."
Los Angeles' only goal came in the second period from captain Dustin Brown. Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick had 17 saves, but the two shots he let by proved to be the undoing of Los Angeles' attempt at a sweep.
One advantage the Kings have, though, is the series shifts back to Los Angeles, where they can close out the series on home ice.
"We wanted to close it out (in Game 4) and we weren't able to do it," Kings forward Anze Kopitar said. "Now we have a desperate team coming into our building."
