Beats Electronics has unveiled its new Powerbeats earbuds called Powerbeats 2 Wireless.
The headphone maker said the $200 pair of earbuds can be used for six days without having to recharge, according to The Los Angeles Times. In addition, the earbuds are water-resistant.
Apple Inc. said it plans to buy Beats for $3 billion. The deal could close by September.
Each side comes with a loop covered in rubber. The loops hang over the back of the ear so they stay still while the user twists and turns, The Next Web reported.
Users can connect the audio blasters up to 30 feet away from a device that uses Bluetooth technology. Beats said the buds can be given a "quick charge" for 15 minutes and they will have an extra hour of life. The company added that they are lightweight and "engineered with the power of dual-driver acoustics."
The company said the wireless earbuds were made exclusively for athletes. The buds were created with help from basketball star Lebron James. The sides are connected by a cord that sits on the back of the neck, The Los Angeles Times reported.
James is described in a report on ESPN.com as an investor in Beats. The report also said that he earns as much as $30 million from Beats sales at Apple.
"Music is one of my main motivations when I work out, and I know others can relate because music takes people to a different place that inspires more energy and focus," James said. "Ultimately, music and athletic performance are one, and through this partnership with Beats, we continue to push that envelope I every way possible."
The Powerbeats 2 wireless earbuds will be available for $199, and will come in black, white and red colorways, The Next Web reported.
The buds are set to be available in stores later this month.
