Harrison Ford could miss eight weeks of the "Star Wars Episode 7" production due to injuries caused during an on-set accident.
A hydraulic door reportedly fell on Ford causing him to sustain injuries to his ankle. The Mirror U.K. reports the actor may have also suffered injuries to his pelvis and chest, but a spokesperson for the production only confirmed the ankle injury.
"Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates," a spokesperson for "Star Wars Episode 7" told the Mirror.
Ford, 71, is expected to be released from Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital "shortly," according to the Mirror. However, Ford will allegedly have to miss two months of filming due to his injuries.
"The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back," a source told the Mirror.
"There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule," the source continued. "At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for 6-8 weeks but the main priority is making sure he is OK."
Ford is reprising his role as Han Solo, joining Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. The "Star Wars" production has also cast newcomers Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be released to theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
