India won the first ODI of the series by seven wickets (D/L method). Ajinkya Rahane earned the Man of the Match award for his performance, which included scoring a game-high 64 runs. Robin Uthappa added 50 runs, and Ambati Rayudu and skipper Suresh Raina added 16 and 15 runs, respectively, both not out.

Umesh Yadav took three of the team's nine wickets; Amit Mishra and Parvez Rasool both took two wickets apiece, and Raina and Akshar Patel each took one wicket.

"Every international game will count. So we are not thinking about it [making a statement]," Rahane said, via CricBuzz.com. "Whoever is here, they did really well in domestic cricket and that's why they are here."

Bangladesh, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back with a win and even the ODI series. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim led the team with 59 runs, and Shakib Al Hasan and Anamul Haque added 52 and 44 runs, respectively.

On the bowling front, Bangladesh managed to take only three wickets, two of which were taken by Al Hasan.
