Uber co-founder Garret Camp is developing a new online reservation service called 'Reserve'.
Very little information has been revealed about the startup, according to PC Magazine. All that has been revealed is that it will be made available first to the New York City area only. The program also promises "a better dining service" when it is released this fall.
Camp has recently been teasing Reserve on Facebook and Twitter.
The Reserve team includes CTO Timothy Knight, former vice president of Product at Fuse Networks. Knight, according to LinkedIn, has been involved in the service since November. The general manager of the startup is entrepreneur Drew Shepard, who was involved in the creation of the Lumawake iPhone dock. Shepard also co-founded the startup Pixel Now, Business Insider reported.
The startup's Dev Ops manager is Josef Loria, who used to work at HBO. Michale Manning is the director of restaurant relations at Reserve.
The reveal of the service follows Priceline's purchase of OpenTable for $2.6 billion.
Reserve is among the projects currently being led by Expa, an umbrella company that has raised $50 million in funding to work on the startup, along with others, according to PC Magazine.
The startup lab is being run by Camp and Naveen Selvadurai, co-founder of Foursquare. Selvadurai joined the development of the service in May as a partner and liaison on the East Coast.
"We have a few things in the works already at Expa HQ in SoMa," Selvadurai said in a blog post at the time. "I will be helping on all these existing projects. And soon, I will launch some new products based in SoHo. We plan to work on just a few companies at a time, with our focus directed at areas we love and in which we have deep experience: mobile, platforms and marketplaces."
