'Scooby-Doo' is Back! Warner Bros. Studios Announces Live-Action Reboot in The Works (VIDEO)

Scooby-Doo is back to solve another mystery.

Deadline.com reported that Warner Bros. studios has announced plans to reboot "Scooby-Doo," the original 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon. The studio is reportedly "starting from scratch" to launch a new version of the classic cartoon characters.

To assist with the re-launch, Warner Bros. studios has enlisted the help of Randall Green to write a fresh screenplay for the live-action untitled film. There are currently no actors connected to the project. The studio has not yet announced a release date for a new live-action version of the Scooby Doo reboot. No storyline details have been unveiled.

The series was also rebooted in 2002. A prequel called "Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins" was made with a younger cast in 2009. The original animated TV series "Scooby-Doo: Where Are You?" aired as a cartoon series in 1969.

The animinated series featured four teenagers: Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers and their talking dog named Scooby-Doo, who solved mysteries involving humans posing as supernatural creatures.

The remake comes ten years after the first live-action version of the film was released, using computer generated imagery. The movie "Scooby-Doo," starring Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini was released in 2002 and made over $268 million worldwide.

The cast returned in 2004 for "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed". The sequel brought in $90 million and received poor reviews.

News of the reboot comes three days after Casey Kasem's death. Kasem voiced the original Shaggy in the cartoon version from 1969 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2006.
