LeBron James Free Agency: Heat Star Noncommittal About Future, Will Weigh Options With D-Wade & Bosh

Miami Heat star LeBron James didn't rule out testing free agency this summer when asked about his future in Miami. The four-time MVP admitted opting out of his contract was something he would discuss this summer with teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, leaving the door open to James playing for another team next season.

James sounded noncommittal when asked about whether he would opt out of his contract this summer, creating the possibility of a 2014 edition of "The Decision."

"There is a conversation that will be had between the three of us -- I think that's only right," James told reporters, via ESPN. "We've earned that for each other. I don't know what Dwyane right now is thinking. I don't know what Chris is thinking now. We'll see what happens."

James, who admitted he feels "more at ease" entering this summer than he did in 2010, said he plans to take a vacation with his family before giving serious consideration to his future in Miami.

Miami faces uncertainty after four straight NBA finals appearances. James, Wade and Bosh account for more than $61 million of the team's salary cap next year -- to put it in perspective, the NBA salary cap is projected to be around $63 million next season, according to ESPN.

On top of the limited room to build a competitive supporting cast around James, there are questions about whether Wade and Bosh give James the best chance to win his third NBA title: Wade is struggling with knee issues, and Bosh is inconsistent on the court.

If James does opt out of his contract, he won't be short of suitors. Grantland's Bill Simmons reported the Los Angeles Clippers could easily create the salary cap space needed to sign James, leading to the possibility of a new Big Three: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and James.
