Computer software company Adobe introduced huge updates to its Creative Cloud subscription model Thursday.
The updates were announced at an event at the Lincoln Center in New York, according to PC Magazine.
14 of the subscription model's apps were updated, including Photoshop, which received a new Mercury Graphics engine. GPU acceleration has been added to Illustrator for Windows 7 and 8, providing five to 10 times faster scrolling and zooming for images. Premiere Pro now lets video editors skim through 4K and 6K files, ZDNet reported.
Adobe also looked to improve creative workflow by upgrading Photoshop with the ability to link external files to a Smart object and updating Illustrator with a Live Shapes feature that lets users control the shape of drawn objects.
Live Shapes was also added to Muse and InDesign, Creative Cloud's other designer apps. Live Text Templates and Masking and Tracking Tools have been added to Premiere, SpeedGrade, After Effects, and Audition, Creative Cloud's video and audio tools. Improved integration between SpeedGrade, After Effects, and Premiere Pro has also been added, PC Magazine reported.
The Dreamweaver website-building app has received an Element Quick View to make modifications of HTML page-structure easier.
Creative Clouds has also received three new mobile apps: Adobe Sketch, Adobe Line and Adobe Photoshop Mix, ZDNet reported. Sketch users can create drawings on the iPad, upload them to Creative Cloud and get feedback from Behance in the app. Link lets users draw precise shapes and lines on the device. The app is also closely linked to Behance. Mix lets users create composites on the iPad.
Adobe is also offering a stylus called Ink and a ruler called Slide as new hardware for Creative Cloud 2014. Ink helps users easily see exactly what they are drawing, and Slide helps users draw straight lines as well as different shapes through projected templates. Link works with both of these features.
Mix provides iPad users with Camera Shake Reduction, Content-Aware Fill, and Upright, important tools used in Photoshop. Adobe also introduced a Creative Cloud app for iPad and iPhone at the event. The app lets users access their media collection as they go about their day.
Adobe is also offering a new Photography subscription Plan for $9.99 a month that includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom, photo-related mobile apps, and Web galleries from Lightroom.com. A student plan is being offered for $19.99 a month.
