England dropped their opener against Italy, 2-1. The Brits kept the match competitive and attacked Italy throughout but were ultimately unable to come away with the result.

"The sort of attacking players we have got are capable of hurting the opposition," England boss Roy Hodgson said, via IB Times. "A top team like Italy were tested by the quality of our attacking players on Saturday and we aren't going to put our weapons down now. Any weapon we have got we are going to try and use."

Uruguay is also looking to bounce back from a loss and keep alive in the group standings. Costa Rica handed the Uruguayans a 3-1 loss, making it imperative for Uruguay to come away with points on Thursday.

Getting the win against England will be even more difficult with the loss of skipper Diego Lugano, who's sidelined with a left knee strain.

"Lugano hasn't been feeling very well lately. He had some pain," Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez said through a translator Wednesday, via the Associated Press. "We thought it's just better he doesn't play because he feels pain in his knee ... and he has to recover."

Uruguay will, however, have striker Luis Suarez back in the lineup. He missed the Costa Rica match with a knee injury but has been training this week with the squad.
