Lil Wayne Announces the Release of Two Albums in 2014 Including 'Tha Carter V'

Rapper Lil Wayne is heading toward retirement with a bang.

MTV reported that the "Lollipop" rapper announced he will be releasing two albums this year, including the highly-anticipated "Tha Carter V". The rapper made the announcement Wednesday on his weekly episode of "Weezy Wednesdays," posted on his Youtube channel.

"This year, not only will I be dropping Tha Carter V, I'm dropping two albums," Wayne said in the video. "This year, look forward to two albums from me because I've been out the game for a second - album wise."

The New Orleans native said the reason behind releasing two albums is simply because he has too much material to put on one record. Wayne joked that he would name the second album "The Other Album".

"Honestly, the reason why it became two albums is because I went work on Tha Carter V and I don't stop working," he added laughing. "So it's either Carter V would be 93 songs, or we're gonna have to figure this out."

Lil Wayne added: "What we said was, we gonna drop two albums this year and then we gon' probably end up dropping like seven next year."

Wayne has repeatedly said "Tha Carter V" will be his final album unless someone offers him $30 million to stay in the music industry. During an interview with Katie Couric on her talk show "Katie," the rapper said he was ready to retire at 35.

"This is what happens when you work very, very hard," Wayne said during an interview with HOT 97 radio station in 2011. "People think that when you say you work hard, they think you put two extra hours in. This is my life. That's why retiring at 35 would be a life lived, because this music thing is my life. So retiring at 35 would be enough."

This revelation comes just a few days after the rapper announced the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour. The rap duo will co-headline the 31-city tour beginning Aug. 8 in Darien Center, N.Y.
