LinkedIn unveiled a new app Thursday to help users find jobs faster and easier.
The LinkedIn Job Search App uses a location-based search to help users look for jobs, according to PC Magazine. Users will be notified automatically when new openings match their interests and they will be able to apply for jobs privately with their LinkedIn profile.
The Job Search app is the company's first standalone app that focuses on these features, TechCrunch reported.
"It can be hard to search for a job while you're at your desk, not to mention the potentially awkward conversation with your current boss," Daniel Ayele, product manager for LinkedIn, said in a blog post. "Our goal is to help make this process easier for you and to help you be discreet. Everything you do within the app will be completely private and not shared with your network."
A spokesperson for LinkedIn said the app is currently available in the iOS App Store in the U.S., but future releases will be available in other countries and in different languages, InformationWeek reported.
The Job Search app includes a search tool that allows users to filter jobs by title, company, location, industry, or seniority level, PC Magazine reported. The app can help users learn more about a company and see if they know someone who already works there and notify them when saved jobs are about to expire, as well as when their applications have been reviewed by a recruiter.
"Landing your dream job can feel like a full-time job," said a LinkedIn company rep. "So we wanted to make it easier to find, research, and apply for your next opportunity by maximizing your 'in between' moments. The next time you're in line for coffee or stuck waiting for a delayed flight, why not jump start your job search from your phone?"
