Navigation app Waze updated its Android and iOS app Wednesday to make it easier for people to communicate with friends and family during the day.
"You can say goodbye to all those pesky texts and calls ('I'm leaving now,' 'I'm stuck in traffic,' 'Almost there!') and instead, just sit back and let Waze do the work," a company representative wrote in a blog post., according to PC Magazine.
Waze version 3.8 includes a new option called "Send Location" that lets users send the address of their current location, destination, home, or work to friends. Users are also able to send addresses from their favorites and history.
Consumers can download the Social GPS, Maps & Traffic app at Google's App Store and on Google Play, NDTV Gadgets reported.
The app has not been updated for Windows Phones.
The new version of Waze also lets users share information with friends and family by tapping the photo of the person in their contact list with whom they'd like to share their drive, then pressing the "go" button.
The people you share with "will be able to follow your drive and know your real-time ETA," boasted Waze. "It's the perfect tool to let friends and colleagues know when you'll arrive or to let the kids know when mom or dad will be home from work."
The updated version also makes it easier for users to find their friends by letting them add contacts from their phone book or Facebook accounts.
"Being friends lets you effortlessly stay in sync when driving to the same destinations and also saves you the trouble of explaining how to get there," the company stated.
The app was created by Israeli startup Waze Mobile, NDTV Gadgets reported. Waze was bought by Google for $1.03 billion in June of last year.
