Want marijuana sent right to your doorstep? There's an app for that.
Josiah Tullis and Megh Vakhaira have created a new app called Canary, which enables users with medical marijuana cards to have weed conveniently delivered to them. Participants can order different types of marijuana in measurements of anywhere from a gram to an ounce. The app's munchies button provides individuals with food and drink when hunger strikes.
Tullis and Vakharia, two students from Washington, are currently hiring drivers for the program's upcoming July launch from car service apps Uber and Lyft.
"We know you don't want to leave the house on the weekends. With Canary, you don't have to. Products are delivered to the location of your choice," the pair's company website stated.
The employees will only service customers that have medical marijuana cards.
"We do some double verification that is required of medical-marijuana patients. They have to take a picture of the card and also present it upon arrival," Vakharia told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Tullis and Vakharia intend to bring the app to Denver in 2014. It's a perfect fit for a place known as the "Mile High City," even before marijuana was legalized.
Although legislators authorized the recreational use of marijuana for citizens over 21 years old in 2012, the public couldn't buy the drug until it became legal for purchase in Jan. 2013. Washington also legalized marijuana in 2012.
