Spoilers for the upcoming ABC spinoff "Bachelor in Paradise" are continuing to roll in and it sounds like the show is going to be gooooood! Yesterday we reported that one contestant, Michelle Kujawa, was kicked off for allegedly sleeping with the sound guy and now a new rumor claims that Season 9 "Bachelorette" contestant Ben Scott was booted from the dating show too.
According to Wetpaint, Scott agreed to fly out to Mexico to film the spinoff but already has a girlfriend. A source told the site that Scott and model Lindsay Higgins started dating a few days before he signed on and are said to be in a happy relationship.
The couple has been posting photos on their different social media accounts and even took a trip together in May to celebrate Scott's 30th birthday.
"They go to church together, hang at Ben's bar [Trophy Room]... she even hangs with his son," the source said. "They are super happy together, and are definitely not trying to hide anything."
So if Scott is in a committed and happy relationship, why go on "Bachelor in Paradise"? The source told Wetpaint that the reality star was hesitant about being on the show but ultimately decided that it "might be a good opportunity to help him open other doors."
So, in other words, Scott was not looking for love. Wetpaint reports that his exit from the show is going to be a major plot point, but this is where things get interesting. The source claims that producers knew about Scott's girlfriend because he told them beforehand.
"He wanted to go home pretty much right away, but said they wouldn't let him," the source told Wetpaint. "He said he liked this girl a lot, and the cast all thought it was a little weird, but he kept sticking around."
Things finally came to a head when two of the cast members "found" a letter written by Higgins.
"Marquel [Martin] and [Marcus Grodd] approached Ben and told him they found a letter from his girlfriend, and then demanded answers on camera, asking why he was there if he had another girl," the source told the site. "He didn't even deny it and he left. I don't know how they'll spin it, but he was happy to go home."
It's not clear how Marquel and Marcus got their hands on the letter because Ben "didn't exactly leave it out for prying eyes. Ben asked where they found it, but didn't believe them," the source said.
"Bachelor in Paradise" premieres in August on ABC.
