Rosario Dawson will star in Marvel's reboot of "Daredevil" premiering exclusively on Netflix.
The production has announced Dawson has joined the cast, but hasn't revealed which character the actress will play. The Marvel reboot is set to premiere on Netflix in 2015 and stars Charlie Cox as the title character, Daredevil.
"Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for 'Marvel's Daredevil,' " said Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb. "Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock's journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil."
Dawson joins actor Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a character Loeb called "an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero."
"We're incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining 'Marvel's Daredevil' in such an integral role," Loeb said.
Disney CEO Bob Iger and Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the "Daredevil" series will be filming in New York City.
"Since 2008 Disney has directly contributed almost half a billion dollars to New York's economy through television and film production, along with approximately 9,000 jobs for New Yorkers," Iger said.
"The Governor's policies make this great state a more affordable and attractive location," he continued, "opening the door for even greater economic investment and job creation for New Yorkers. Our Marvel series for Netflix will inject millions directly into the local economy and create hundreds of new jobs."
