Germany drew against Ghana with a 2-2 full-time score, with Miroslav Klose equaling Brazil's Ronaldo's record score of 15 goals.
The FIFA World Cup 2014 seems like a year of the underdogs. First, Chile beat Spain, then Costa Rica beat Italy and now Ghana managed to draw with Germany, a country that is predicted to win the tournament.
The silver line of the match for Germany was that it's Miroslav Klose managed to equal Brazil's Ronaldo's record of 15 goals. Klose 15th goal was probably one of the most crucial one of this career since the equalizer gave the team a much needed one point.
"It wasn't perfect, but I can't remember the last time I did it," Klose said, according to Daily Mail. "Still, 15 goals in 20 matches, that's not bad."
He celebrated the goal with his trademark somersault. "I don't know how long it's been since I did a somersault. but at least it worked out," he said later.
Rolando took to his twitter account to congratulate the German striker. The tweet translated into "Welcome to the club (hashtag)klose. I can imagine your happiness!!!! What a great Cup!!!?"
Klose made his first World Cup appearance in 2002, where he scored a hat trick in an 8-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. However, the failed to score again in the whole tournament that year. During his home World Cup four years later in 2006, the forward found the net five times again, which was enough for the Golden Boot. Klose now has 70 international goals to his name from 133 games. This may be his last World Cup. If so, and if Germany goes through to the next stage, Klose has a maximum of five games to grab that vital goal that will bring him the all-time record.
The recent draw comes as good news for the United States as a win against Portugal would take the country to the next stage of the tournament.
"Ghana really threw everything they had at us. It was a very animated match. Both teams had many chances, and many counterattacks," Germany coach Joachim Loew said, according to a Washington Post. "That's not how the match was planned, but that's how it turned out."
Germany plays the United States next and need a win or a draw to go through to the next round.
