Portugal opened the World Cup with a 4-0 loss to Germany. While it was a big loss, Portugal boss Paulo Bento believes his squad can bounce back and earn a result on Sunday.
"It's not the first time we've been under pressure in the group phase," Bento told FIFA.com. "Qualifying from the opening round is our first objective at this World Cup, and it's still in our hands. That's what we're fighting for. It's a tough time for us and we're not happy at starting the World Cup on the back foot and having all these players missing. I always say the same thing, though: we show who we are when we're under pressure."
USA heads into Sunday's match looking for their second straight win after opening the tournament with a 2-1 win over Ghana. For the United States, it's about shutting down Cristiano Ronaldo.
"We want to put Cristiano and his team in place," USA boss Jurgen Klinsmann said, via IB Times. "We want to get out there with all the energy that we have, with all the discipline that we're going to bring, with all the aggression we're going to bring to our play and make it our game.
"For us it's a huge opportunity tomorrow (Sunday) here in Manaus and we will definitely go for it."
