Do you think dressing up your dog in jewelry is a bad thing? PETA does.
Us Weekly reported that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is bashing five-time Grammy-award winning singer Lady Gaga, who dressed up her pet, a French bulldog named Asia, in heavy jewelry, including clip-on earrings.
The 28-year-old "Born This Way" singer shared a series of photos of her playing dress-up with Asia, and included captions like "I don't have time for this moms." The three pictures posted caught the attention of Daphna Nachminovitch, senior vice president of PETA's Cruelty Investigations Department, who spoke out about the incident to Us Weekly.
"Lady Gaga may choose to decorate herself with elaborate and even uncomfortable outfits, but Asia doesn't get to make that choice," Nachminovitch told Us Weekly. "Although it seems pretty clear that Lady Gaga loves Asia, we think Asia - and all dogs - are adorable without all the added flair. The best accessory for any dog is a comfortable, secure, well-fitting harness, which is perfect for long walks together."
The picture received backlash from Gaga's 3.7 million Instagram users - many of whom commented on the picture.
Jamie Raesly wrote: "Wouldn't you think that clip on earrings would hurt a poor dog's thin ears?!?!"
Another user posted, "When a dog's eyes are red like that, it means it's stressed out."
This is not the first time the singer has attracted negative attention from PETA. In 2012, PETA accused Gaga of having "no heart" after wearing a fox head scarf. In 2010, the animal organization slammed the singer for wearing a meat dress to the MTV Video Music Awards.
