Health device maker Withings has taken the activity tracker out of gyms and race racks and turned it into a fashion statement with an elegant Swiss-made connected watch design.
A new smart timepiece from the makers of Withings Pulse is presenting a very elegant choice to health watchers who wish to stay on top of their game at all times.
The new Withings Activité timepiece is beautifully crafted with an activity trackers built inside to monitor a wearer's physical activities. In the traditional fitness tracker fashion, the Activité monitors steps, calories burned; distance traveled as well as sleep patterns via accelerometer and other internal sensors. With its waterproof capabilities, users can also track their movements while swimming. But The Verge notes that the watch can withstand water up to 5 meters.
Design-wise, the Activité stands out among the other tracking bands such as Gear, Up and others. The sleek design is complimented by a simple two dial round face with a leather strap from a famous tannery in France. The straps are interchangeable and users can choose plastic or rubber ones to hit the gym. The primary dial in the watch gives the time, while there's a smaller sub dial that keeps track of wearer's activity targets. The watch is protected with a sapphire glass and the round screen acts as a touch display to switch between different modes, according to the company's press release,Monday.
"At Withings, our mission is to inspire health and with the Activité we have created a universally appealing tracker that promotes the benefits of healthier lifestyles in a chicly design watch people are eager to wear," Cedric Hutchings, CEO of Withings, said in a statement. "The Activité is forged with the quintessential "French Touch" - the art of mixing design and style, inspirations and eras, traditions and innovations to create a 21 century timepiece that connects us to the time and universe around us as well as our bodies natural rhythms."
The company also notes that the Withings Activité pairs with smartphones, iOS devices, via Bluetooth LE and displays monitored information on Withings Health mate app. It lets users create goals and track progress. The watch tracker batteries last for a year.
The fashionable design comes at a price two folds higher than the traditional fitness trackers available in the market.
