2 Killed, 8 Wounded After Armed Gunmen Launch 50 Bullets At Miami Apartment Complex (VIDEO)

At least 10 people were shot, two of them fatally, following a shooting outside an apartment building in Miami early Tuesday, with eight others injured, NBC News reported. Police said they have no confirmed motive in the shooting or possible arrests, but detectives are speaking with witnesses.

After gunfire erupted in a courtyard-like area outside an apartment complex at Northwest 12th Avenue and 65th Street in the low-income neighborhood of Liberty City at about 2:30 a.m., one man, identified by family members as 30-year-old Kevin Richardson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, identified as 26-year-old Nakiel Jackson, died after being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where five other victims with various injuries were also admitted, Miami Police Department spokeswoman Frederica Burden said.

While one was confirmed to be stable, three others were reported to be in serious condition, Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll added. "It's a sad situation," said Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa, who responded to the scene early Tuesday. "We've never had any calls, any problems in this apartment building."

One of the female victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and one woman said her 17-year-old sister was shot at the scene and was "very critical". "We also had one adult male who was in extremely critical condition, was unresponsive, and paramedics performed CPR all the way here to the hospital," Carroll said.

The circumstances and details of the shooting remain unclear, but around 50 to 60 shots were fired at the scene by two men armed with assault weapons, Carroll said. Several paramedics responded immediately to the scene, which he described as "chaotic."

"At this point, we're not going to speculate as to what happened on the scene. The investigators have been here since 2 a.m. and we're going to give them their chance to do what they need to do to find out why this occurred," Miami Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said.

Jackson Memorial Hospital officials would not release information about the victims, and the number of injured was still fluctuating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, NBC News reported.
