Microsoft's Exchange Online program outage Tuesday morning caused frustration for many businesses trying to download e-mails at the start of their work day.
Users noticed e-mails weren't showing up in their inboxes at around 10 a.m. eastern standard time. Most companies had just switched over to the new Office 365 subscription mail service as their sole online mail program.
"Some Exchange customers are experiencing email delays," a spokeswoman said in an email to Computer World. "Our engineering team is actively working to resolve this issue. We recommend customers visit the service health dashboard for real-time updates."
Several exchange software users took to Twitter to express their dismay about the situation.
"#office365 is down. Should we now call it #office364?" asked The Washington Post's Molly Urciolo.
"Microsoft, have you tried turning it off and on again? #Office365 outage," user Adam Zaines said in his post.
Another chirped, "This might be the worst day ever for using Exchange Online. Down since 8:30am central with no ETA to return to service."
"How annoying is it to get an @office365 twitter ad when the service has been dead for 5 hours!?" Hearst Corporation's chief technology officer Phil Wiser posted.
Microsoft's e-mail outage was the second issue involving one of the tech giant's software programs since another glitch affected consumers using video conferencing and instant messaging software Lync after 7 a.m. eastern standard time until Monday afternoon.
"We realize some Lync users in North America are experiencing issues, we are working to resolve," said Microsoft in a post on their Twitter account.
